Jar of Stars

A collection of inspiration.
Things that make Lauren come alive.

I’m not sure how the photog and model were able to predict a rainbow, but this is gorgeous. Just magical.

Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you’ve got to say, and say it hot.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it - even if I have said it - unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens.

Just booked a trip to Lanai. Actually, my husband wanted to go to Maui and I insisted on a side-trip to the sparsely-populated island just off the coast of West Maui.

I’m craving adventure, a place that conjures memories of LOST and MYST and other puzzle-adventure locales, real or fictional. I’m going to be learning stickshift to drive a Jeep through breezy fields to remote beaches. I’m going to co-paddle a two-seated kayak in the open ocean until my arms fall off. (I’m also going to play a lot of golf, but that’s not so sexy.)

And best of all: I’m going to explore shipwrecks. A few ships got stranded on and off the coast of Lanai in the first half of the 20th century since Lanai catches the water currents before they hit Maui. There, the relic from the 1940s sits rusting, and at some angles it looks like a ghost ship that barely touches the water, waiting for its crew to return.

Posting a few photos of Shipwreck Beach to pique my excitement. And one unrelated photo of scuba diving somewhere in Hawaii because it gives me goosebumps.

From my childhood. It still gives me goosebumps, and for some reason means even more to me as an adult.

A tree lives on its roots. If you change the root, you change the tree. Culture lives in human beings. If you change the human heart the culture will follow.

This is my friend Emily Ryan. (Yes, this is a girl that knows how to ducktape the hell out of her boobs to make a pretty boy.) Emily is a badass costume maker and cosplayer. She told me how she made this Edward Elric arm out of stuff you can find around the house. I’m so using this method to rebuild my Battle Angel cyborg arms. #win for not having to buy insane supplies, tools, or labor to make convincing cyborg limbs!
